In Sonic 2, players can control Sonic and Tails as they travel through the various zones of the game. The player must navigate through each stage, avoid obstacles and enemies, and reach the goal at the end of the level.
One of the most iconic features of Sonic 2 is the inclusion of Tails, who joins Sonic on his adventures. Tails are able to fly and use their tails to attack enemies. He can also pick up Sonic and spin him around, allowing Sonic to reach high areas.
Sonic 2 also introduces the Super Sonic transformation, which allows Sonic to travel at incredibly fast speeds and defeat enemies more easily. To transform into Super Sonic, the player must collect all seven Chaos Emeralds.
The game was well-received upon release and is considered one of the best Sonic games ever made.
